Minutes Like Ours
MLO Rock Band

Rock Music

A band's dream is to be signed by record label. A label will book shows, create merchandise, build a fan-base, get play on various radio stations, develop an interactive fan community, and produce, engineer, and distribute albums. Minutes Like Ours doesn't have a record label, yet they've accomplished all of this. Rising from the bars of Peekskill, NY, Minutes Like Ours burst onto the scene with their self-released debut album “Leaving Shadows” which hit iTunes in 2009. In October 2010, their new single, “Lights Out” was named the #1 Pop Song of the month by MTV’s Ourstage Competition, a contest with over 900 contestants. Minutes Like Ours’s catchy melodies, rocking piano, and enrapturing energy make them one of New York’s best new bands of 2010.

"Everyone says to make it in music you have to get lucky. I've learned that the harder you work, the luckier you get," says lead singer and pianist Matt Maher. "We sat and down and hashed out everything that a record label does, and asked the question, 'why can't we do this?'" Minutes Like Ours developed their own merchandise, created their own website, and built an online community of over 20,000 fans. They recorded, produced, and engineered their own albums and singles. They reached out to radio stations and received airplay on WRRV, WTBQ, 9.23 K-Rock Internet Radio, AOL Radio and will be soon featured on Westchester's largest station, 100.7 WHUD. They've been recognized in More Sugar, The Examiner, The Journal News, MetroMix NY, andThe North County News. Certain stores such as Pac Sun, Zumiez, and RSX even have Minutes Like Ours's music on rotation. Most importantly, if you attend one of their fun and energetic live shows, you will undoubtedly tap your feet, bob your head, and want to sing along. The Melding of Maher’s captivating piano melodies and impassioned vocals with the band’s pop-rock roots are the reason standout tracks like “Lights Out” are hummed throughout the streets of Westchester.

Their bootstrapping methods and extreme dedication has allowed Minutes Like Ours to be on the cusp of "making it." Their new singles and growing popularity grabbed the attention of producer and engineer Sean McCabe, who works under mega-producer "Machine" (Travis McCoy, Adam Lambert, Fall Out Boy) McCabe produced and engineered their new single, "Alive" which debut's December 6th.

Minutes Like Ours is one of New York's quickest rising bands, and it's not luck. It's hard work.
